The inner taper keeps the airflow path smooth, which protects suction strength. The retention clip has an inside blocking plate, so you can't over-squeeze it and damage the lock. It snaps in place and pulls free when you want it gone.

You get a clean way to extend your vacuum setup without buying a whole new tool. Made in the USA.
