The xun is an ancient Chinese wind instrument with roots in the bronze and stone ages. This top-blown egg-shaped flute produces warm, resonant tones when played correctly. Like traditional ocarinas and Japanese flutes, the xun requires proper embouchure technique, angle your lips at 45 degrees to the top hole and adjust your mouth shape to find the sweet spot.
Playing the xun is a rewarding challenge. Success depends on both your technique and print quality, as internal threads can block airflow. We recommend starting with the 6cm version if you're new to top-blown instruments. Control pitch by opening and closing the fingerholes as you would on any traditional flute.
This is a genuine musical instrument, not a toy. Best suited for musicians with experience playing flutes, ocarinas, shakuhachi, or similar wind instruments. Print quality varies, expect some experimentation to find your ideal playing angle and embouchure.
