What it does

  • Generate custom solder stencils from gerber files for your PCB projects
  • Perfect for DIY electronics prototyping and small-batch board assembly
  • Works with solder paste layers, no need for expensive metal stencils

SolderSCAD is a Python script that turns your PCB solder paste gerber files into 3D-printable stencils. If you've ever built electronics projects and wished you could skip the cost and wait of ordering metal stencils, this is your answer.

It's designed for solder paste layers specifically, handling aperture flashes without the need for complex macro support.

Originally created in 2012, this tool laid groundwork for DIY PCB assembly before modern printer features like auto bed leveling and build plate ironing became standard. The script is open source and available on GitHub, ready for you to experiment with and adapt to today's improved 3D printing capabilities.

1.3k downloads in the maker community. That is interest in the design on the site it came from, not our sales.

What you get

  • This design prints as one piece.

What it is made of

Printed plastic is strong for its size, but it is not metal. We have not load tested this design, so we do not publish a weight rating. Keep it out of a hot car and away from open flame.
