How do I get a MyMiniFactory model printed?

Quick answer

Open the object page on MyMiniFactory and use its Download button to get the file yourself. Free objects usually need a free sign in. Paid ones need a purchase first. Either way you get an STL file, often inside a ZIP. Check the licence, then upload the STL here. We print it in the USA and mail it to you. We never download files for you or sell prints of other people's MyMiniFactory objects.

Upload your file and get one printed for you.

Found a model on MyMiniFactory?

  1. Download the STL file from MyMiniFactory.
  2. Upload that file here.
  3. See the size and price before you order.

MyMiniFactory checks every design before it goes live, which is one reason people trust what they find there. That check does not include a printer showing up at your door, though. If you do not own one, this page covers the rest of the way.

Get the file from MyMiniFactory yourself

On the object page, look for the Download button. A free object usually asks you to sign in with a free account first. A paid object asks you to buy it before the download unlocks. Either way, the purchase or the sign in happens on MyMiniFactory, not here: we never see or handle that step.

The download itself is normally a ZIP file. Open it and look for the file ending in .stl, which is the main format MyMiniFactory objects ship in. A design with more than one piece, like a stand with a separate base, often comes as more than one .stl file, one per piece.

We do not fetch this file for you. It belongs to the designer, and MyMiniFactory is the only place with the real copy. Downloading it yourself also means you are the one reading the designer's terms before anything gets printed.

What the licence means for a personal print

MyMiniFactory shows a licence on every object page. Many objects use the site's own Personal Use terms: fine for a print you keep or give as a gift, not fine for selling copies of the finished part. Some designers instead pick a Creative Commons licence, the same family used across the hobby, which the page names directly.

A paid object works the same way for printing purposes: buying it licenses you, the buyer, to print it for yourself. It does not licence you to hand the file to someone else or resell prints of it.

This is the designer's decision, not ours. If a page is unclear about what is allowed, say so when you upload and a person looks at it with you before anything is printed.

From the MyMiniFactory page to your door

  1. Step 1

Open the object page and check the licence

Read the licence note before you download or buy anything.

  2. Step 2

Sign in or buy it, if needed

Free objects usually need a free account. Paid ones need a purchase. Both happen on MyMiniFactory.

  3. Step 3

    Download and unzip it

Pull the .stl file, or files, out of the ZIP you get.

  4. Step 4

    Upload the file here

Drop the .stl into our upload tool. You see a price right away, based on the real size of the file.

  5. Step 5

Pick a color and check out

Choose a material and color, then order. We print it in the USA and mail it to you, with one flat shipping charge no matter how many parts are in the order.

Worth knowing

What this does not cover

We do not sign in, buy, or download anything from MyMiniFactory on your behalf, and we do not sell prints of other people's MyMiniFactory objects in our own shop. A design being available there does not guarantee it prints clean on any printer, ours included. And if the object you found has no file at all, just photos, there is nothing to upload. Tell us what you need instead and we will help you look for one.

Do I need a MyMiniFactory account to download a file?
For free objects, usually yes, a free one. Paid objects need a purchase before the download unlocks.
What file type does MyMiniFactory give me?
An STL file, often inside a ZIP if the object has more than one part.
Can you download the file from MyMiniFactory for me?
No. You download or buy it yourself, then upload it to us. We never fetch a file from another site on a customer's behalf.
If I pay for a MyMiniFactory object, can I print more than one copy?
Buying an object licenses you, the buyer, to print it for yourself. It is not a licence to hand the file to someone else. If you want several copies for yourself, order the quantity you want and we print all of them.
What if I am not sure the licence allows printing?
Say so when you upload the file. A person looks at it with you before anything is printed.
