How to mount a video doorbell on brick without drilling
Quick answer
You do not have to drill brick to mount a video doorbell. Three paths work: drill into the mortar line instead of the brick face, stick the mount to smooth brick with heavy-duty adhesive strips (some are rated up to 16 pounds), or skip the brick and mount to the wood trim beside the door. Video doorbells weigh 4 to 8.5 ounces, so holding the weight is easy. The surface is the hard part.
Brick scares people off. Drilling it is loud, it needs a masonry bit, and the hole is forever. The good news: a video doorbell weighs about as much as a deck of cards, so you have easier options.
Weight is not the problem
Every mainstream video doorbell weighs under nine ounces. Holding one up is easy. The real question is what your wall surface allows.

Path 1: drill the mortar, not the brick
Mortar is the gray line between bricks. It is softer than brick, easier on your drill, and simple to patch if you ever move the mount. Aim your screw holes at the mortar line and the brick face never gets touched.
Path 2: adhesive on smooth brick
Heavy-duty adhesive strips are rated up to about 16 pounds. That is dozens of times what a doorbell weighs. But strips only grip smooth, clean, sealed surfaces. Rough, dusty, or crumbly brick will shed them. Rub your hand on the brick: if it feels like sandpaper or leaves dust on your palm, use path 1 or 3 instead.
Path 3: skip the brick, use the trim
Most doors have wood trim on the handle side. Small screws go into wood with a plain screwdriver, and the holes are easy to fill later. If the trim faces sideways, add an angle wedge to turn the camera back toward the walkway. Our Ring angle guide shows how to pick the angle.
