What it does

  • Fat hinges. Survive a year of constant handling without snapping.
  • Print-in-place. No assembly. Comes off the printer hinging.
  • Flat layout. Hinges do not fuse during print.
  • Tactile loop. Open, close, fold, repeat.
  • Designer credit: markinthebox on Thingiverse, CC-BY-SA.

A folding cube that opens, closes, and hinges through a satisfying loop. Print-in-place. Pulls out of the printer ready to fidget.

The trick is the hinge profile. The "fat hinge" version uses thicker pivot pins than the original Kobayashi. They survive constant handling without the snap that kills thin-hinge versions in a week. Flat layout means no hinge fusion issues during print.
