This 3D-printable USB-A plug isolator mat solves a common problem with Ender 3 and Creality printers: unwanted back-power flowing through the USB connection when the printer is off but still connected to a Raspberry Pi or other host device. The isolator works by blocking specific pins inside the USB plug to create data-only or power-only connections.

Insert the mat between the USB-A male pins and socket to disconnect either the VCC pin (for data-only mode) or the D+ and D− pins (for power-only mode). The design isolates pins at the front of the plug while the pins push down in the back, keeping electronics safe from stray current and associated noise interference.

The included SCAD file works with OpenSCAD Customizer, allowing you to adjust tolerance, isolate different pins, or adapt the design to your needs. Always verify USB pinout orientation before insertion and test carefully. Use at your own risk. The isolator may require your device to be inverted during insertion, pins can bend if misaligned, and the mat could become lodged in the connector.
